Free Dimensions (driving allowed without a permit)
Permit required when dimensions are exceeded:
- Truck – 12m x 2.55m x 4m
- Tractor + semi-trailer – 16.5m x 2.55m x 4m – 44t (axle pressures not exceeded, indivisable loading)
- Truck + trailer – 18.75m x 2.55m x 4m – 44t (axle pressures not exceeded, indivisable loading)
Permits and their validity
Types of permits
- permanent permits for national roads – valid until 31.01. the year following the year when the permit was issued
- single per route – valid for 1 month
Validity
- Single permits: 14 days
- Permanent permits: 6 months

- Permanent permit: 3-5 business days
- Single permits per route: 3-5 business days
- Possibility of express permission in exceptional cases within 24 hours
Necessary documents
- Registration certificates
- IN SOME CASES, a certificate from the manufacturer of the weight of the load

Additional information
- over 46 t must have 2 driving axles (at least 25% of the total weight must fall on the driving axle)
- with petmit max. 6 m overhang from the steering point of the axle with an unstretched combination
- white-and-red FLAG required when the load protrudes to the sides!
- permits for non-Swiss carriers are issued only for entry into Switzerland / for exit from Switzerland / for transit through Switzerland.
