Permits and their validity
Types of permits
Permanent and for a specific route
Validity
Permanent permits:
- 1 category
– max 27m x 3.5m x 4m – 44t,
– driving on all roads in Belgium,
– valid for 5 years,
– max. 3 tractors in the permit. - 2 category (Motorways)
– 30m x 4.25m x 4.3m – 44t
– to the motorway network (driving in accordance with the list of available routes)
– max. 3 tractors or trucks in the permit,
or (you can do both or choose one of the options) - 2 category (roads 90t)
– 30m x 4.25m x 4.5m – 44t
– on the 90t class road network (national roads and some highways – driving in accordance with the list of available routes),
– 1-year validity,
– max. 3 tractors in the permit.
Permit for a specific route:
If we make a permit without exceeded weight,
– it is valid for a maximum of 6 months,
– max. 3 tractors in the permit.
or
If we do over 44t,
– validity 3-6 months,
– for a specific transport combination.

Necessary documents
Permits up to 44t:
– tractor / truck registration certificatesPermits over 44t:

Time of travel
– dimensions over 30m length and / or 4m width – driving is prohibited from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (all roads)
– dimensions over 3.5 m wide on a motorway with less than 3 lanes – driving ban from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm
– Christmas bans – January 1, Easter Monday, Ascension Day, Pentecost Holy Spirit Day, July 21, August 15, November 1, November 11 and December 25 from 4:00 PM on the day
preceding a public holiday until 0:00 on that day.
– weekend ban – from 12:00 on Saturday until 00:00 on Sunday (all roads)
– over 27m long and / or 3.5m wide or / and 60t – driving ban from 7:00 am – 9:00 am and 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Marking:
– a convoi exceptionel plate at the front and at the rear; at least 40 cm above the ground
Art. 16 – A convoi exceptionnel plate with a minimum distance of 40 cm from the ground must be displayed on the front and rear of the vehicle, which is removed as soon as the transport ceases to meet the conditions of the excess according to the Belgian Highway Code.
– at least 2 light beacons on the roof + 1 light beacon left on the rear
Art.17 – Two flashing yellow / orange beacons on the front of the cabin, visible from a distance of 270 m, and one at the rear, attached to the end of the vehicle on the left side or on the left side of the tail, visible from 180 m. during transport and illuminate throughout its entire course.
Art.18 – Additionally, the vehicle must have:
– two triangles
– two portable flash lamps
Art. 19 – if the vehicle is longer than 22 m, there must be reflectors on both sides along its entire length
– if the width is greater than 2.55 m, there must be two marker plates at the front and 2 at the rear, (there must also be a white light on the front plates, red lights on the rear ones)
– if the vehicle is wider than 4.5 m, it must have reflectors at the front and rear
