Number of escort cars
If the width is greater than 4.8m and the rigid length is greater than 28m, two pilots may be required.

Types of escorts
- A vehicle with a minimum of four wheels with no exposed cargo space. It also cannot carry any part of the cargo carried by the piloted transport.
- The color of the pilot vehicle should be visible, preferably white, yellow or orange. There must be a rectangular light on the roof that shines the full width of the vehicle with an orange light at each end to be switched on only when piloting.
- In addition, it must also be marked in black with the words “Escort” or “Escort car”. It is important that the first letter is in uppercase and the rest in lowercase Helvetica or Arial. The minimum text height is 150mm. The text cannot be subject to any effects, e.g. slanting or shading, and there cannot be any logos around the inscription.
- In addition, there should also be a plate (may be attached or detachable) at the front and rear of the vehicle with the words “ABNORMAL LOAD” or “WIDE LOAD” (possibly “SLOW LORRY” or “LONG ROAD”). The board should be yellow with black inscription, the minimum text height is 100mm.
